Last year we moved to Georgia, taking our photography business with us, but I still have a big heart for my home state of Oklahoma! When we head back “home” to visit family and friends, I love also visiting our clients and squeezing in a few sessions. It was beyond exciting that this year’s December trip back home lined up perfectly with our long-term client’s due date! You all know how much I love babies and children. These newborn and family photos warm my heart!
I have been taking photos of the Bushong family since their first baby, Madeline, was born. Her newborn photos are some of my favorites, and I always look forward to seeing this family grow every year. We have become friends over the years, and I was so excited that they were expecting the second baby, Evan.
We had a really fun shoot day. We got to go play out on the Bushongs’ land. I love the beauty of rural Oklahoma; it always takes my breath away. Julie & Jacob are incredible to work with because they are both such awesome parents! I knew we were going to have a blast playing outside. Jacob did an awesome job of playing with Madeline and the family pups while Julie got Evan ready for his close up. Jacob always knows how to make Madeline laugh and smile. I know he will have baby Evan laughing and smiling soon, too.
When we first arrived at their land the biggest difference I noticed from photographing in Georgia was the temperature. It was bitterly cold! Brrrr! Julie was awesome and took the temperature in stride. She didn’t stress about the family wearing coats and blankets during the session, and she gave baby Evan extra cuddles to keep him warm. Julie is so good at going with the flow and enjoying the moment. A few years ago we even had a session with them where it snowed!
I love that the family dogs are in most of our shoots together. Dogs are my favorite (don’t tell my cats – they’re my favorite too), and the Bushongs’ dogs are the sweetest. Even though the morning started out cold, we still had a beautiful glow as the early morning sun came up. Got to love that golden hour glow! I just love how these turned out! Enjoy some of my favorites of this wonderful, playful family!
